UK Sailmakers Toronto

UK Sailmakers is re-opening in Ontario under the ownership of long-time Canadian sailor Randy St. Jacques. Randy has 50 years of experience both racing and cruising on many boats. He is a very busy racer himself and active in the Fifty Point Sailing Club and in PHRF-LO with the C&C 30 MkII SCRUBS.

For the last ten years, Randy as sold sails for several brands but has now moved to UK Sailmakers. It has been a year since Brian Chapman unexpectedly passed away, leaving Toronto sailors at a loss. “Brian Chapman set the bar incredibly high for quality sails and service,” says Randy. “He will be a tough act to follow, and I hope that I can live up to the expectations he created with sailors on Lake Ontario.”

Randy is currently finalizing plans for a service facility in the GTA and looks forward to big things for the UK Sailmakers brand in the area.

“I’ve been a sail buyer and sail seller, so I know what’s important to 25-40 footer sailors.”

Production

Every sail we sell is made in a UK Sailmakers loft to exacting standards by experienced sailmakers. UK Sailmakers has many production facilities worldwide that bring to life our designs. The majority of the sails produced for Toronto are by UK Sailmakers Hong Kong. The largest loft in the UK group, they produce over half the sails sold worldwide. With decades of sailmaking UK Hong Kong has built sails for racers and cruisers all over the world including Americas Cup and Vendee Globe competitors. Closer to home UK Sailmakers Chicago is the main manufacturer for North America; they are one of the oldest lofts in the group and have a well-deserved reputation for quality. On the One Design front Toronto works closely with UK Sailmakers Texas (Pedro Gianotti).
